The Umeå FC is a Swedish football club in the city of Umea .
history
The club was created in 1987 by merging the football departments of the clubs Tegs SK , Sandåkerns SK and Gimonäs CK to create a competitive football team. At the time, all three clubs were playing in what was then Division 2 .
A 7-year plan was drawn up for the new club with the aim of reaching the first Swedish football league in 1994 . This goal was finally realized in the 1996 season , when the club played in the Allsvenskan for this one season. Despite an eleventh place, they were relegated because they could not win the relegation games against Panos Ljungskile . In 1998 they faced renewed promotion to the Allsvenskan, but they lost the qualifying matches against Örgryte IS .
In the 2005 season Umeå FC rose to the second-rate Superettan , but the team rose immediately after only one year. The club then established itself in the third division Division 1 and finally made it to the Superettan as champions of the northern season with a 2-1 win on the last day of the 2011 season. The lead over fourth-placed Dalkurd FF was just two points. After the direct relegation as bottom of the table at the end of the second division season in 2012 , the team was then permanently represented in the third division.
