history

America Sports Club was founded in Umeå on November 8, 1931 . After this designation was rejected by Riksidrottsförbundet , the club changed its name to Sandåkerns Sportklubb and was successfully registered on February 7, 1932, so that this date is considered the official date of establishment.

Soccer

At first, the Sandåkern SK football team only played on a regional level. In the 1950s things went up, so that the club in 1956 rose to the third division. Initially placed in the middle of the table, the team oriented towards promotion places towards the end of the decade. As a table runner-up in Division 3 Mellersta Norrland , the club missed promotion to the second division in 1959 only because of the poorer goal difference compared to the same point leader IF Friska Viljor . After another runner-up behind Sollefteå GIF in the following year and a third place in 1961, the club ended the season in 1962 as a season winner.

In the second division, Sandåkerns SK initially placed in the back of the table, but at the end of the season each had a small cushion on the relegation ranks. In the season 1965 the team slipped into relegation danger, but talking to a point ahead of Skellefteå AIK in Division 2 . In the subsequent seasons back in the midfield of the league, the club played for promotion in the late 1960s. 1968 still runner-up behind Sandvikens IF , the team finished the following season in front of Brynäs IF and Domsjö IF as the season winner of Division 2 Norrland . In the promotion games, however, the team lost against the Gothenburg club Örgryte IS and Hammarby IF from Stockholm, so that the final game against Helsingborgs IF , who also started with two defeats, was canceled because both teams had no chance.

Sandåkerns SK

Sandåkerns SK missed 1971 as runner-up behind IFK Luleå to participate again in the promotion round. But then the crash followed, as a victim of a league reform, the team rose from bottom of the table in the third division. There the club played for the return, which he narrowly missed several times. After the team was briefly in danger of relegation towards the end of the decade, they established themselves in the third level of play. In 1986 she survived a league reform before the first team in the football department merged with the teams from Tegs SK and Gimonäs CK to form Umeå FC . The Sandåkern SK football team continued their work in the lower class amateur area.

2000 Sandåkerns SK rose to the fifth division, where the team established itself in the front division. 2003 succeeded behind the local rivals Ersboda SK the runner-up, in the promotion games the club failed behind Alnö IF . After a third place in the following year, he was again the victim of a league reform in 2005. Although the team achieved the relay victory, it was only associated with qualifying for the new fifth division, which was held in fewer seasons. Here the level of play was too high and the club was relegated straight away. After the immediate resurgence, the club played again against relegation, which was accepted in 2009.

ice Hockey

The ice hockey team initially plays lower class. After they had established themselves in the second-highest Swedish league in the 1960s, they were promoted to the first class in 1969. There the club was not competitive. During the entire season, the team only won one game and was relegated to the bottom of the table. As a result, there were talks with local rivals IFK Umeå , who also played in the first division. In 1970 the two ice hockey teams merged and initially competed under the name IFK / SSK , before the club was later renamed IF Björklöven .
