Domsjö IF is a football club from Domsjö , a suburb of Örnsköldsvik . The team played eight seasons in the second highest Swedish league in the club's history .
history
Founded in 1917, the club mainly offered the workers of the cardboard and paper manufacturer Mo och Domsjö AB a wide range of sports before the club developed into a pure football club in the course of its history.
Domsjö IF's footballers played under-class for a long time. After promotion to the third division in 1963, the club immediately set in the promotion race to the second division. 1964 still runner-up behind IF Älgarna , the team marched in the following season with 15 wins in 20 games this season as the first in Division 3 Södra Norrland Övre in the second highest division. There the club played against the immediate relegation, but left Lycksele IF and IFK Östersund on the relegation places behind. Also in the 1967 season, the club occupied the last non-relegation place in Division 2 Norrland , before the club managed to surprise two years later as third in the table. With the same result, the club ended the season in 1971, in the following season he missed relegation.
Tied on points with local rivals IF Friska Viljor and Sandåkerns SK , Domsjö IF missed direct re-promotion due to the poorer goal difference . After a fourth place in the subsequent season, the club returned after the season win in 1975 and only one defeat in the promotion round together with Hudiksvalls ABK back in the second division. With six wins this season he had no chance and was relegated directly with Ope IF and Gefle IF . As the season runner-up, the team just barely missed promotion twice, but then fell back into midfield in the third division. In 1983, once again the runners-up, the team rose to the fourth division in 1985 and, after a league reform, slipped into the lower division in the following year.
After a merger with the MoDo AIK soccer team , Domsjö IF returned to the fourth division in 1994, but only lasted three seasons. After the sporting descent to the sixth level in 1999, the club merged with the men's team of Själevads IK and thus remained fifth class. In 2003 the club qualified for the promotion round to the fourth division, but missed the qualification. 2005 Victims of a league reform, the club subsequently settled in the sixth division.
