Lycksele IF is a Swedish football club from Lycksele in the province of Västerbotten County . The team played for several years in the second division and reached the promotion round to Allsvenskan in 1956 , but is currently only in the lower class leagues.

history

Lycksele IF was founded in 1914. In 1922 the soccer team took part in the league for the first time, but initially only played in the regional league area. In 1941 he was promoted to the third division Division 3, which at the time was the highest division for teams from northern Sweden. Some of the top placings came here and when northern Sweden was integrated into the Swedish league system in the 1952/53 season, the team made it to the second division by winning the relay.

In the first second division season Lycksele IF was able to intervene directly in the battle for promotion to Allsvenskan and reached third place in the table behind Sandvikens AIK and Ljusne AIK . After a second place in the following season, the club reached the promotion round to the Swedish elite series as the season winner of Division 2 Norrland . There, however, the team failed due to GAIS , in the second leg they were downright outclassed with an 8-0 defeat.

In the following years Lycksele IF could no longer build on the successes and placed in the middle of the table. In the early 1960s, the team even played against relegation. In 1962 the club returned to the race for promotion, but ultimately had to let IFK Holmsund go to the promotion round with one point behind. After three more years in the midfield of the league, the team won only eleven points in the 1966 season and missed relegation with two points behind Domsjö IF .

As seventh in the table, Lycksele IF clearly missed the direct return to the second division. However, succeeded in the following year the runner-up and in 1969 as a season winner and then second behind Essviks AIF in the promotion round of promotion. In the second division it was against relegation, which could still be avoided in the first year as eighth, but had to be accepted a year later as tenth.

In 1974 Lycksele IF was even passed through to fourth class. After the direct re-promotion, the team just missed the march into the second division as second behind Domsjö IF. In the following season succeeded the relay victory and by a second place behind IF Brommapojkarna in the promotion round, the promotion to the second division was accomplished. However, the direct relegation took place as the knocked-down bottom of the table. In 1979 there was another crash into the fourth division and in the following years the team commuted between the third and fourth level every year. It was not until 1985 that the club managed to stay in the third division. In the following year they finished only last in the table. Therefore, the club fell victim to a league reform and came into the fifth-class division 4.

In the following years Lycksele IF only played lower class. In 1994, the return to the fourth division was missed without winning a point in the promotion round. After the team temporarily only played sixth class, they managed to return to the fifth class Division 4 Västerbotten Norra in 2005 . There the team was fifth again victim of a league reform and was only sixth class again. As the first in the table, the club made a direct return. In the first year he managed to stay two points ahead of the relegation places, but rose again in 2008. At the end of 2013 and 2017, the team was again the season winner, but was immediately relegated. In 2019, however, the relegation was followed by a direct return to the fifth division.
