Hermann von Groening

Hermann Georg Wilhelm Heinrich von Gröning (born February 23, 1823 in Bremen ; † March 8, 1898 in Bremen) was a Hanseatic businessman and senator for the Hanseatic city of Bremen.

biography

Heinrich von Gröning was the fifth son of the Mayor of Bremen Heinrich von Gröning (1774–1839). He attended school in Bremen and studied law at the universities of Göttingen and Heidelberg . He was active as a student with the Corps Hannovera and Vandalia Heidelberg . After graduating as Dr. jur. he returned to Bremen and joined the trading house Gröning & Co. as a partner . On October 15, 1864, he was elected to the college of judges and on May 20, 1864, he was elected Senator of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen. In the Senate of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen , he was chairman of the building deputation and the inspection of hospitals.

The second of his three sons, Stephan von Gröning (1861–1944), was a Prussian administrative officer and district president in Potsdam , the third Albert Heinrich von Gröning became district president in Koblenz .
