Essviks AIF is a Swedish football club from Essvik near Sundsvall . The team played a season in the second division in 1970 .

history

Founded in 1924, Essviks AIF played for a long time in the lower-class league area. After a one-year flying visit to the third division during the 1939/40 season, it was not until 1961 that the team rose again to the third division. There she played against relegation, which took place in 1963. With seven points ahead of Alnö IF , she returned in 1965 as a season winner in the third division, in which she subsequently got stuck. In 1967 and 1968 she had the last non-relegation place, she won the relay win in the 1969 season before Kubikenborgs IF , IFK Sundsvall and Sandvikens AIK . In the subsequent round of promotion, they separated from IFK Östersund and Luleå SK only in a draw, but thanks to a victory over Lycksele IF they moved into the second division as first in the table.

Essviks AIF had no chance in Division 2 Norrland. After four victories of the season, the club was five points behind Lycksele IF and Ljusdals IF, who were placed on the last non-relegation places, and were relegated again directly with IFK Östersund and IFK Härnösand . After relegation, the team stayed only two seasons in the third division, but then rose directly from fourth division again. After relegation, the team was almost regularly placed in the front midfield of the fourth division until the end of the 1970s, but could not intervene in the promotion race. It wasn't until 1982 that the team, which scored a hundred goals in 22 games, dominated their season and returned to the third division.

Essvik's AIF stayed at the third level until 1985 when the club was downgraded to the fourth division after a league reform. The team played here until the end of the decade before establishing themselves in the fifth division after relegated again in 1991. In 2005 again victim of a league reform, the club fell into the seventh division, from which it rose again at the end of 2007. In 2009 the club withdrew its team from the league and is now playing eight-class.
