Ljusdals IF is a Swedish football club from Ljusdal in Hälsingland . The team played several seasons in the country's second-highest division in its history .

history

After the soccer team of Ljusdals IF, founded on June 9, 1904, had acquired their first set of rules, they started playing in white jerseys and blue shorts. With black and yellow jerseys, the club came up with its current club colors in 1936 and has since competed in gold and green outfits.

The team from Ljusdals IF, which initially appeared in the lower class, established itself at the level of the game after its promotion to the third division in 1952. Just two years later, the club was runner-up in its third division season for the first time, but was seven points behind the promoted Skutskärs IF . In 1958 he repeated this position, this time separating him only one point to Fagervik GF and promotion to the second division. Although he stayed largely in the top half of the table in the following years, it was not until 1965 that he played again for promotion. Once again, a point behind Söderhamns IF separated him from success. The following year, Ljusdals IF won the relay, but in the promotion games that have now been introduced, he failed to IF Friska Viljor .

In the season 1967 Ljusdals IF repeated the season victory, this time it was enough for promotion. The league newcomer immediately placed third behind Sandvikens IF and Sandåkerns SK , but was seven points behind the season winner. As a result, the club slipped in the table and occupied the last non-relegation place in the 1970 season. In the following year, the club finally fell victim to a league reform when the number of the second division season was reduced and an eighth place in the table was not enough to stay in the league. Together with Sandåkerns SK, Lycksele IF , Bodens BK and Timrå IK taking the step into the third division, the crash into the fourth division followed just two years later.

For the 1979 season Ljusdals IF returned to the third division and played in the early 1980s for a time to return to the second division. In 1985, however, the club rose again and was the victim of another league reform the following year, as a result of which he was downgraded to fifth division. With this, the club said goodbye to higher-class football and at times only entered seventh-class in the following years.
