Bodens Bandyklubb , often abbreviated as Bodens BK or BBK , is a sports club from the Swedish city of Boden . Several departments and members of the club, founded in 1916, were able to attract national attention. BBK is the northernmost club that has ever played in Swedish professional football. Home is the Björknäsvallen stadium , which has a capacity of 8,000 spectators.

Soccer

Just ten years after it was founded, the BBK soccer team in Norrländska Mästerskapet was able to attract attention and win the title several times. However, northern Swedish teams were excluded from the overall Swedish championship at the time, so that although they were record winners of the competition with eight titles, no higher-class national merits could be achieved. After the ban was lifted, the club belonged to the second highest Swedish league from 1954 . The team barely scraped as third in the table with two points behind Lycksele IF on the qualification for the promotion games to Allsvenskan . The following year it got even tighter, one point behind leaders GIF Sundsvall meant fourth place in the end. In the following season, however, it was not possible to build on the successful years and as the bottom of the table, the club stepped back to the third division. The club succeeded in direct recovery and was able to place itself in the safe midfield. Also in the second year after the promotion succeeded with the fourth place, the relegation, but again in the third year the crash in league three followed.

In 1967 the BBK team managed to return to the lower house once more. However, 14 points were not enough to stay in the league. After two years in the third division, the rise again succeeded for the 1971 season. With only two wins and three draws, however, Norrbotten had to acknowledge that the team's capabilities were insufficient. After the team had even crashed into fourth division in 1973, it developed in the following years into an elevator team between the third and fourth division.

In 2002 BBK won the championship title of the third division Division 2 Norrland and the club managed to qualify for the Superettan. Again, the class could only be held for three years before the club returned to the third division at the end of the 2005 season. In 2008, BBK rose as the bottom of the table from the third division Division 1 Norra .

ice Hockey

In 1956, the ice hockey team also made it to the second top division in Sweden. Until 1976, the team played under the name BBK in this league. Subsequently, a syndicate was founded with the ice hockey department of Svartbjörnsbyns IF , which competed under the name BBK / Björns . The community broke up in 1980 and you started again independently. At the end of 1986 the department separated from the main club and traded as Bodens IK . In 2005 the association had to file for bankruptcy.

The cross-country skier Sven Utterström was a member of the association. He became world champion at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1930 and won a gold medal at the 1932 Olympic Games .
