The Kubikenborgs If is a Swedish football club in Sundsvall . The club had its most successful period in the early 1970s, when the team temporarily competed in the second-highest Swedish division .

history

Founded in 1919, the Kubikenborgs IF team initially played in the lower-class league area. In 1936 she rose to the third division for the first time and just barely missed the promotion round to the second division as second in the table. After she was subsequently unable to confirm success, she missed relegation in 1939. As a result, the club played under-class for a long time, only in 1952 succeeded in rising again.

The Kubikenborgs IF established itself after being promoted again in the middle of the table of his third division season. In 1957, the club escaped relegation only because of the better goal quotient compared to tied rivals Brynäs IF , a year later the club itself was relegated. After the immediate resurgence, when the team remained in the fourth division without defeat, he also settled in the third division in the front area. In 1960 as runner-up behind local rivals GIF Sundsvall , six points were missing, and two points behind Söderhamns IF in the following year . After a short dry spell in the following years, in which only midfield positions were occupied or even in a front position the table leaders had clear advantages, the club returned to the promotion race to the second division in the late 1960s. In 1969 again runner-up - this time one point behind Essviks AIF - the team distanced the competition for teams like IFK Mora , IFK Sundsvall and Gefle IF and rose to the second division in the following season .

In the second division season 1971 Kubikenborgs IF won with eleven games half of the games to be contested. As a result, the team survived a league reform as sixth in the table, in which the number of second division relays was reduced, with one point ahead of the relegation places starting from eighth rank. However, the success lasted only one season, in the following season the team scored only three season victories and rose together with Domsjö IF , Gefle IF and Skellefteå AIK in the third division.

A short time later, Kubikenborgs IF crashed into fourth class. The direct ascent was successful, but this was followed by an immediate descent. After narrowly missed renewed promotions, the club returned in 1979 with 21 wins in 22 season games with the almost perfect yield of 43 points in the third division. Initially placed in the middle division, the club slipped in the mid-1980s in danger of relegation. In 1986, however, the club initially survived a league reform at the third level when it was defeated in the relegation round. At the end of the following season, however, it was again in the fourth division, then in the fifth division. There the club established itself in the following years.

At the end of the 2003 season Kubikenborgs IF returned to the fourth division. As second in the table behind Gimonäs CK , the team only missed the direct march into the third level in the second round of the relegation games against Piteå IF . After she had survived a league reform in the following year as second behind Ersboda SK , she slipped into relegation danger in 2006 and only saved herself in the relegation round. In the 2007 season only two victories of the season get, and as the bottom of the table, Kubikenborgs IF entered the fifth division. There the club was mostly placed in a secure position in the middle of the table. Outstanding in this period was the second place in the 2010 season. In the qualifying games for promotion to Division 2, however, the club could not prevail.

In 2016 Kubikenborgs IF was relegated to the sixth division 4. Although the immediate promotion was successful, relegation was clearly missed with only one win of the season and four draws.

At times, the club offered other sports in addition to soccer, such as ice hockey , figure skating , table tennis or handball , and in ski jumping the team even distinguished itself as two-time Swedish national champions in the 1950s.
