Ljusne AIK is a Swedish sports club from Ljusne . The club is best known for its football team , which competed in the second-highest division in Sweden for several years .

history

Ljusne AIK was founded in 1919. When the league system was introduced in Sweden at the end of the 1920s, the soccer team initially competed in the lower class, but in 1933, as the season winner of the third-class division 3 Uppsvenska, reached the second-highest division for the first time. At the side of teams like Hallstahammars SK , Surahammars IF or Bollnäs GIF , the club established itself in the middle of the table in its second division season. In 1939 the club reached the best result in the club's history with a fourth place behind Hammarby IF , Ludvika FFI and Djurgårdens IF , followed by relegation to the third division in the subsequent season together with Enköpings SK .

As a relegated team, Ljusne AIK remained undefeated throughout the season and thus moved confidently into the promotion round, in which the club prevailed against Avesta AIK . In an exciting relegation battle in the 1941/42 season - at the end of the season Sundbybergs IK , Gefle IF , Ljusne AIK and IFK Lidingö in Division 2 Norra were tied at the bottom of the table - the club missed relegation due to the poorer goal quotient . The stay in the third division, however, lasted only one season, again the club dominated its third division season and decided the promotion round against Långshyttans AIK for themselves. Again, the club played in the second division against relegation, but was able to hold several seasons in the league. In the season 1945/46, however, the team had almost no chance and had with eight season points seven points behind the last non-relegation place occupied by Sandvikens AIK .

While Ljusne AIK on the one hand survived a league reform in the third division, the team moved to the final for the Norrländska Mästerskapet in 1947 , which they won. In the now concentrated third division, the club slipped into the relegation area. In 1949, relegation to the fourth division followed, which was followed by immediate resurgence. The club placed in the middle league area and benefited in 1953 from an increase in the second division as part of the integration of northern Sweden into the league pyramid and rose again as the table sixth in the second division.

Ljusne AIK barely missed the Allsvenskan march in 1954 . As runners-up in Division 2 Norrland behind Sandvikens AIK, two points were missing for promotion to the Swedish elite series with a better goal difference. It was not possible to confirm the success, just two years later the team was in a relegation battle and finally rose in 1957 from bottom of the table.

After the footballers of the Ljusne AIK had been passed through to fourth division in 1959, the club developed into an elevator team between third and fourth level in the following years . After another relegation in 1967, the club established itself in the front of its fourth division season until the mid-1970s. When they returned to the third division in 1976, the team then commuted again between the leagues. In 1986 third class, she was the victim of a league reform and downgraded to fifth class as eleventh place in the table. As a result, the club disappeared from the higher-class Swedish football.

In the 1950 season, the club's ice hockey department took part in the Swedish championship , which was then still held in cup mode . In the 1976/77 season the team entered what was then the second highest division in Sweden, Division 1 .

At the end of the 1990s, Ljusne AIK split up and the individual subdivisions football, ice hockey and athletics formed independent clubs under the roof of the old club.
