history

Bollnäs Gymnastik- och Idrottsförening was founded in 1895 and initially offered cross-country skiing and ski jumping in addition to bandy and football. For a long time, the individual departments remained under the umbrella of a sports club before they went into business for themselves. Today there are still sub-clubs for bandy and soccer, respectively.

Soccer

When the league pyramid was introduced in the late 1920s, the Bollnäs GIF soccer team initially played at a lower level. In 1934, the club won its third division season with three points ahead of Skärgårdens IF and rose to the second division. Here the team played against direct relegation, which they prevented on the last non-relegation place before IF Rune and IFK Grängesberg . The following years were also marked by the relegation battle, the better goal quotient compared to the competition saved several times before going into the third division. In the season 1938/39 the club got only ten season points, so that he was five points behind the last non-relegation place occupied by Enköpings SK and after five seasons he was relegated to the third division.

In the third division, the Bollnäs GIF footballers played in the middle of the table after relegation, but were soon in danger of relegation. In 1943 the club ended the season after only four wins this season on a relegation zone. After the immediate resurgence, the club only stayed at the third level for a short time. After a brief flying visit in the 1956/57 season, the club did not return to the third division until 1961. As third in the table behind Söderhamns IF and Kubikenborgs IF , the team narrowly missed the march through to the second division, before being promoted as the season winner in the subsequent season.

In the second division season of 1963 Bollnäs GIF had no chance and rose as the table penultimate together with Gimonäs CK and Norsjö IF directly from again. In the third division, the club fluctuated in the following seasons between the front and rear division, but stayed in the league until the end of the decade. In 1970, the club was relegated to the fourth division, where he was initially in a relegation battle for a season, before he then played to return to the third division. On several occasions, the club narrowly missed out on promotion as second in the table. At the end of the 1977 season there was the relay victory, but the team rose again directly and slipped into the fifth division in 1981.

In 1990 Bollnäs returned to the fourth division, where the team immediately established itself in the front division. In 1992 she won her season, but missed relegation in the third division. In 1996, fifth class again for one season, the club established itself at the fourth level in the late 1990s. In 2001 the club was relegated again, but managed to return in 2004. In the following year victim of a league reform that led to direct relegation, the club crashed three years later in the sixth division.

Bandy

In 1906 a bandy department was established at Bollnäs GIF, but regular gaming was not started until the 1920s. Then the team dominated the regional championships before they rose to the highest national league in 1931.

In the 1950s, the Bollnäs GIF bandy team belonged to the national elite. In 1951 and 1956, the team won the Swedish championship, and they also narrowly missed the final several times. As a long-time first division club, the Kub took part in the Ljusdal World Cup several times. In 2005 the club won the competition for the first time when the national competitor Edsbyns IF was beaten in the final .
