history

Hallstahammars SK was founded on August 8, 1906. In 1914, the team first took part in league operations, but it was not until 1922 before the club joined the Swedish Football Association and started playing there. The club played in the Mellansvenska series, which became a season of the then unofficial second division when the Allsvenskan was introduced in 1924 .

In the first second division season Hallstahammars SK was runner-up behind IK City . The following season ended in the same place behind Örebro SK . After finishing fourth in 1927, he won the relay for the first time in 1928. In the promotion games, however, the club failed to Westermalms IF after a 2-2 draw on foreign place was followed by a 2-1 home defeat. This qualified the team, however, for the now officially introduced second division, which was reduced to two seasons. There the team was again only runner-up in the Norra season behind Sandvikens IF .

1931 Hallstahammars SK ended the season tied with IK Brage in first place. With a ratio of 38:23 goals and 52:34 goals for the team from Borlänge, the goal quotient decided in favor of HSK. However, the club could not establish itself in the Allsvenskan and with only two wins this season could only be occupied the last place in the table.

As third in the table in 1933, the direct rise was missed. After the club was only able to finish the seasons in midfield for two years, the season win again succeeded in 1936. In the promotion games, the team was able to equalize a 3-0 first leg defeat at Djurgårdens IF by a 3-0 home win, but in the play-off the team drew the short straw with a 2-1 defeat. Two years later they won again the season and entered the play-offs against Hammarby IF . After a 2-1 home win in front of 7,400 fans, a 1-1 draw in front of 15,000 spectators in Stockholm meant a return to the top class.

In the second first division season in the history of the HSK, the team scored 14 points. Thus, the team rose again directly from bottom of the table, the gap to Örgryte IS and thus to the saving bank was five points.

In the second division, Hallstahammars SK was able to establish itself again, but did not get beyond midfield. In 1945, the team ended the season even on a relegation zone, Avesta AIK and Ljusne AIK were able to hold the class with two points ahead of the club. Although Västmanland succeeded in the relay victory in Division 3 , the direct rise was missed in the promotion games when Enköpings SK could prevail in a necessary playoff. In the following season they finished tied with IF Vesta in second place, but the club from Uppsala had the better goal difference. As runner-up, HSK had a point ahead of Västerås SK and qualified for the playoffs for the new third division, in which the previous 17 seasons were reduced to four. Here IK Heros could be defeated with two victories and thus the class could be maintained. The concentrated third division, however, proved to be too strong and as third from bottom, the club was relegated to the fourth division.

In 1950, the fourth division champions returned to the third division, where, with two points behind master Ludvika FFI, the direct march into the second division was just missed. In the following season, however, could no longer build on the success and the club missed the league as third from bottom. The immediate resurgence was followed by the runner-up in the third division. 1955 developed a close fight for relegation, in which including HSK five teams finished the season with 19 points. The club stayed in the league because Leksands IF had a better goal difference, but IFK Grängesberg and the two relegated Falu BS and Säters IF placed behind HSK . After the team was also in the lower part of the table in the following season, the relay victory and thus the return to the second division could be celebrated in 1957.

In 1958, HSK managed to stay fourth from bottom. A year later, the team finished the season with 19 points tied with Köpings IS and Avesta AIK, but had a worse goal difference than the competition and said goodbye to the second division. In the following three years, the team commuted between the leagues: The direct rise was followed by immediate relegation, but also the renewed third division championship. As seventh, the club managed a safe midfield place in the second division in 1963, which the team had to leave as bottom of the table in the following season. As runner-up behind Avesta AIK, the direct rise was missed, but a year later it was the undisputed season winner. Again, the team could not hold in the second division.

HSK could no longer establish itself in the third division and rose in 1969 to the fourth division. After several failed attempts when the team was only second, they returned to the third division in 1973. The descent in 1976 was followed by a direct ascent, but again only two years could be held. On the 75th anniversary of the club in 1981, the team returned to the third division. After the club seemed to be able to stay in the class this time, the 1986 season, in which the Swedish league system was reformed, failed: As bottom of the table, not only was relegation missed, but the club was downgraded to fifth-rate Division 4 .

In 1987, HSK became champions in the fifth division and rose to the fourth division. As runner-up, the team just barely missed the direct march into the third division. In 1990 the team was relegated back to the fifth division and said goodbye to higher-class football. Currently the team plays in the sixth division 4 Västmanland .

The bandy team drew national attention in 1940/41 when they competed in Division 1, which was the top division at the time.
