Hallstahammar is a city in the Swedish province of Västmanland County and the historic province of Västmanland .
The place is the main town of the municipality of the same name and is located on the European route E 18 , about 20 km northwest of Västerås .
history
Värperör is a Roese Swedish Gravröse from the Bronze Age (1800-500 v. Chr.) Located on a cemetery northwest of Kolbäck in the town of Hallstahammar.
In 1628 a hammer mill was built at Trångfors and a small settlement was built around the works. The construction of the Strömsholm Canal led to a modest upturn, but it was not until the industrialization in the second half of the 19th century that the industrial plants emerged that would dominate the place until the steel crisis in the 1970s. From the 1970s the importance of industry declined, and Hallstahammar, as the capital of the municipality of the same name, became an important local service center.
economy
Hallstahammar is still an industrial town whose industry goes back to traditional iron processing.
