Ljusne is a place ( Tatort ) in the Swedish province of Gävleborgs län , in the historical province (landskap) Hälsingland .

Location and traffic

Ljusne belongs to the municipality of Söderhamn and within this, since January 1, 2016, to the district of Ljusne. With over 1900 inhabitants (2015), the place is the second largest village in the municipality. It is about 60 km as the crow flies north of the provincial capital Gävle and a good 10 km southeast of Söderhamn .

Ljusne is mainly located on the left bank of the river Ljusnan at its confluence with the Bottensee . The rapids of the river a little above the estuary are used to generate electrical energy: the Ljusnefors hydropower plant was built in 1976 , about two kilometers west (upstream) in 1945 (reconstructed 1986) the Ljusne Strömmar hydropower plant; both are operated by Ljusnans Kraft AB, which is now controlled by Fortun .

The place is located on the secondary provincial road X 583, which follows the coast and corresponds to the earlier course of European route 4 . The new route of Europastraße 4, built on this section in the 1990s as an expressway, runs about 5 km to the west.

Ljusne has a train station (now without passenger traffic) at km 182 of the East Coast Railway ( Ostkustbanan), which connects Stockholm with Sundsvall . The station is located on a new section opened in 1997. The original route, which was opened on this section in 1923 and continuously in 1926, branches off immediately to the south. On the section Åänge – Söderhamn (Åänge means the westernmost part of Ljusne) this is only used for freight traffic to the neighboring Sandarne and is subsequently out of service or dismantled.

history

The place, first mentioned in 1540 as Lussne , developed, beginning with the opening of the Ljusneverken ironworks in 1671, into an important business location in the region. As a result, operations were started mainly the woodworking industry, by companies such as the Bergvik och Ala AB, the Ljusne-Woxna AB and Ströms Bruks AB (after acquisition of Ljusne-Woxna as Ströms-Ljusne AB ). Ljusne was the most populous place in the municipality as early as the 19th century. In connection with the closing of most major companies from the 1980s - after the bankruptcy of a chain factory in 2003 today is only a sawmill of Stora Enso in operation - has since migrated almost half the population.

The place administratively belonged initially to the parish Söderala socks , named after the southwest to Söderhamn Kirchdorf Söderala , from 1862, the same rural community (landskommun) emerged. This went on in 1971 in the municipality of Söderhamn.

Attractions

The church of Ljusne was created in 1896 by converting an older building, influenced by the Swiss style . Since 1917 it has been the center of an independent parish ( församling ).
