Ivar Eidefjäll

Ivar Eidefjäll ( October 18, 1921 - May 23, 2011 ) was a Swedish football player . The offensive player, who made his debut for the Swedish national team in 1949 , played in his home country and as a professional in Italy. In Serie A he played 127 games in which he scored 13 goals.

Career

Eidefjäll began playing football at Jönköpings BK , which he left at the age of 15 for Jönköpings Södra IF . When he was in the fifth division, he made his debut in the competitive team the following year. He quickly earned himself a regular place and rose to the second division with the team by 1943. Here, too, the team quickly established itself in the front of the table and remained in the 1944/45 season in all 18 games of the season without losing points. In the Allsvenskan , however, she had no chance and was immediately relegated. This was followed by direct resurgence, where Eidefjäll also shone as a goalscorer in the promotion round. This time he established himself with the team in the league. In the 1949/50 season he achieved his final breakthrough, which was crowned with an international match against Norway in November 1949. At the end of the season, in which he had contributed eleven goals to reaching second place in the table - the champions Malmö FF , who remained undefeated during the season , had a 17 point lead - he left his home country.

Like many of his compatriots, Eidefjäll moved to Italy to earn a living playing football as a professional. With his move to the second division AC Legnano , he became the first professional football player from the Swedish province of Småland . He scored 16 goals this season in his first season and was crucial to the rise of the Lombardy club in the Serie A involved. Then the club strengthened with his compatriot Karl-Erik Palmér . After a season in Serie A, which the club finished in last place, the team managed to return directly to Serie A. After relegated again in 1954, he moved to Serie A after 129 games and 28 goals for AC Legnano to Novara Calcio . Two years later he was relegated to Serie B with his new club . Here he played another season before returning to Sweden after 91 games and eight goals. For Jönköpings Södra IF he played one last season in the second division. After 21 games and four goals, he ended his higher-class active career in late 1958.

Later, Eidefjäll was the player-coach for third division Gnosjö IF before he was active again for his home club Jönköpings BK .
