The AC Legnano , official: Associazione Calcio Dilettantistica Legnano is an Italian football club from Legnano , a town in the region of Lombardy . The club colors are purple and white. The club's stadium is the Stadio Giovanni Mari in Legnano, with space for 5,000 spectators.

history

The club was founded in 1913 and first took part in the Italian national championship in 1920. The Lombard club was able to qualify as runner-up in the Girone C for the championship finals. The team finished only fifth in their group and missed a participation in the national final. The club was also represented in the top Italian league for the following eight years. After the 1928/29 season Legnano was relegated to the newly founded Serie B and managed to get promoted again a year later. Only one season later it was again not possible to keep the class and the club fell back into Serie B. In 1935, the first low point in the club's history followed with relegation to the third-class Serie C.

After the end of the Second World War, the club was classified by the Italian Association in the second division. In the 1950/51 season Legnano won second place in Serie B, direct promotion to Serie A and thus returned to the top division after 20 years. After a season in Serie A, in which Legnano finished last, this chapter ended prematurely. In the following year, the team again made the leap to Serie A, but again the direct relegation followed. Legnano could not recover from the fall in the third class Serie C in 1957 and stayed in the third class for many years. The 1974/75 season marked one of the sporting low points of the Lombard team. As the last of the Girone A, the club said goodbye to professional football for the first time and then had to compete in Serie D.

The 1980s and 90s in Legnano were associated with several promotions and relegations between the third and fifth highest division, with the club played five seasons in the highest amateur league. In 2000 they finally returned to professional football when the club rose to Serie C2 after winning the Girone B.

After seven years in the league, the team managed the promotion for the C1 series for the 2007/08 season . After only the 18th place in the Lega Pro Prima Divisione was reached in the 2008/09 season , the gang had to be started again in the fourth highest league. On July 16, 2010, she was excluded from the association and now has to compete in the amateur leagues.
