After a few more good years in Genoa , Lombardo moved to Juventus Turin in the summer of 1995 , where he repeatedly had injury problems. At the end of the 1997/98 season, the team rose again. For the 1998/99 season Terry Venables took over the team and Lombardo decided to stay. When the club got into financial difficulties at the end of 1998, the expenses for salaries had to be reduced and so he moved back to Italy to Lazio Rome in January 1999 . At Lazio he played until January 2001 and won the European Cup Winners' Cup with the team in 1998/99 and his third Italian championship and the Coppa Italia in the 1999/2000 season .
