1988
The Italian Supercup 1988 was the 1st edition of this competition. The Italian champions of the season 1987/88, AC Milan , and Sampdoria Genua , winner of the Coppa Italia 1987/88, met each other. The game was originally planned before the 1988/89 season, but due to the Summer Olympics that were being held at that time, the Supercup was postponed to June 14, 1989.
After Gianluca Vialli gave Sampdoria an early lead , Milan responded just four minutes later through Frank Rijkaard , turning the game around in the second half and becoming the first Italian club to secure the title of Supercup winner.

The Italian Supercup 1989 was the 2nd edition of this competition. The Italian champions of the season 1988/89, Inter Milan , and the Coppa Italia winner of 1988/89, Sampdoria Genoa , met each other. The game took place on September 29, 1989 in the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium in Milan , where the first edition of the Supercup had already taken place.
Inter won 2-0 and secured the national Super Cup for the first time, while Sampdoria failed against a Milan club for the second time in a row.

The Italian Supercup 1990 was the 3rd edition of this competition. The Italian champions of the 1989/90 season, SSC Napoli , and the 1989/90 Coppa Italia winner, Juventus Turin , met each other. The game took place on September 1, 1990 at the Stadio San Paolo in Naples, and for the first time not in Milan .
Napoli clearly won 5-1 after leading 4-1 at halftime. The SSC was able to win the Super Cup for the first time in its history.

Sampdoria won just 1-0 and won the Supercup for the first time on the third attempt, after failing in 1988 and 1989.

The Italian Supercup 1992 was the 5th edition of this competition. The Italian champions of the 1991/92 season, AC Milan , and AC Parma , Coppa Italia winner from 1991/92, met each other. The game took place on August 30, 1992 in the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium in Milan, the third time at this location.
Milan won 2-1 with the goal of "Joker" Massaro and became the first team to win the Super Cup for the second time after triumphing in 1988.

The game took place on August 21, 1993 at the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium in Washington, DC, and thus for the first time outside of Italy.
With Simone's early goal, Milan won 1-0 and was the first team to defend the Supercup title.

1994
The Italian Supercup 1994 was the 7th edition of this competition. The Italian champions of the 1993/94 season, AC Milan , and Sampdoria Genua , Coppa Italia winner 1993/94, met each other. The game took place on August 28, 1994 for the fourth time in the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium in Milan .
Gullit was able to equalize Sampdoria's lead with seven minutes remaining and thus secured overtime, in which however no more hits were scored. In the penalty shoot-out, Milan goalkeeper Rossi was able to parry a penalty and was thus instrumental in the victory. The AC won the Super Cup for the fourth time, while the Genoese failed in their fourth attempt for the third time.

The Italian Supercup 1995 was the 8th edition of this competition. The Italian champions and Coppa Italia winners of the 1994/95 season , Juventus Turin , and AC Parma , second in the Coppa Italia 1994/95, met each other. The game took place for the first time on January 17, 1996 at the Stadio delle Alpi in Turin . Due to scheduling problems, the game was played in January 1996 instead of the previous summer.
Vialli secured Juventus the victory and with it the first Supercup title, in 1990 they failed against Sampdoria. Parma, on the other hand, also lost their second Super Cup game after 1992, although Juve goalkeeper Peruzzi received the first expulsion in the history of the competition.

For the first time in the history of the competition, the cup winner was able to defeat the champions. A brace from Batistuta ensured Florence historic success in the first Super Cup match. Milan suffered their first defeat in a Supercup game.

Only for the second time in the history of the competition did the cup winner prevail against the champions. Juve lost their second of four Super Cup games, while Lazio were equally successful in their first attempt with a goal in added time.

For the third time in the history of the competition, the cup winner retained the upper hand, Parma rehabilitated with the winning goal in stoppage time for its previous two defeats in the "Supercoppa". Milan, on the other hand, lost for the second time in their sixth Supercup game.

The Italian champions and Coppa Italia winners of the 1999/2000 season , Lazio Rome , and Inter Milan , second in the Coppa Italia 1999/2000, met each other. The game took place for the first time on September 8, 2000 at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome .
After the cup winners had prevailed twice in a row in previous years, the double winner with Lazio now had the upper hand. For the Romans it was the second Supercup title in the second game after 1998, while Inter could not repeat their triumph of 1989.

With an undisputed 3-0 victory, the Romans secured their first Super Cup after they had been defeated by Sampdoria Genoa in 1991. The "Fiorentina", however, could not repeat their 1996 victory.

The game took place abroad for the second time on August 25, 2002. The venue was the June 11 stadium in the Libyan capital Tripoli . The Libyan ruler Muammar al-Gaddafi , an avowed fan of Juventus, had campaigned for the game to be held in his home country.
Thanks to Alessandro Del Piero's winning two goals , "Juve" secured their third Supercup title in the fifth final. Parma, on the other hand, lost the third of four Super Cup games.

After a 0-0 after ninety minutes, the two goals came in stoppage time in the first half of extra time to make it 1-1. The game was ultimately decided on penalties, where Ciro Ferrara converted the decisive penalty. "Juve" secured their second Supercup title in a row. "Milan", on the other hand, had to admit defeat in a Super Cup final for the third time in a row.
