Career

In the club

Luis Jiménez began his career with the Chilean club CD Palestino and played there from 2001 to 2002. For the 2002/03 season Jimenez moved abroad for the first time, namely to Ternana Calcio , where he stayed until the winter break of the 2005/06 season before he was loaned to Serie A club Fiorentina . Jiménez is considered a great talent, which he already demonstrated in Florence , because after a short time he was able to fight for a regular place here and scored a total of three goals in 19 games this season.

On January 15, 2007 he moved to Lazio Rome on loan for € 1 million . The club also had the option to buy Jiménez for € 11 million after the season.

For the 2007/08 season he came to the Italian champions Inter Milan , who had also loaned him. He also managed his second international appearance - the Champions League game Fenerbahçe Istanbul on November 27, 2007 - his first goal on the European stage. In the 2008/09 season he was finally signed by Inter.

After a disappointing season with major injury problems, Inter officials decided to take Jiménez to England on loan to West Ham United . The London club also has the option to buy the midfielder next summer. The Londoners did not pull the option and so Jiménez returned to his club Inter Milan.

In February 2010 he was loaned to the Italian club FC Parma . In the summer of 2010 he returned to Ternana Calcio, but was loaned directly to the Serie A club AC Cesena , which had been promoted to the 2010/11 season. In the summer of 2011 he moved from Ternana Calcio to Al-Ahli in Dubai.

In the national team

Jiménez made his debut in the senior team on 28 April 2004 during a friendly match against the Peruvian national team . He scored his first two goals on June 9, 2006 for the qualifying games for the 2006 World Cup against the Venezuelan national team .

In summer 2004 Jiménez took part with Chile in the Copa America and was eliminated in the preliminary round.
