He also achieved the best placement in the club's history with the Gialloblù ranked second behind Juventus in Serie A. In the 1996/97 season, Bucci was pushed to the bench by the then 18-year-old Gianluigi Buffon , which prompted him to first move to AC Perugia on loan and to sign a contract with the second-rate Torino Calcio in 1998 .
In Turin, Luca Bucci was a regular goalkeeper for six years and rose twice as a Serie B winner in Italy's top division. In 2003 he moved to FC Empoli . A year later, the goalkeeper returned to his home club AC Parma. There he initially replaced the substitute goalkeeper Gianluca Berti, who had moved to Turin , and was then again a regular goalkeeper for three years.
At the end of the 2007/08 season , in which the Emilian club relegated to the second division after 18 years in Serie A, FC Parma (formerly AC Parma ) offered Bucci a position in the management of the club. However, he refused this and decided instead to continue his active career. On February 6, 2009, Luca Bucci, who had been without a club until then, signed a contract with the first division club SSC Napoli , who were still urgently looking for an experienced substitute after injuring their goalkeepers Gennaro Iezzo and Matteo Gianello . On April 19, 2009 Bucci, now 40 years old, made his debut in a 2-0 win in the Serie A game against Cagliari Calcio for the Partenopei . This was also his last competitive game as a professional, shortly afterwards he announced the end of his career.
