Matteo Gianello (born May 7, 1976 in Bovolone , Verona province ) is an Italian football goalkeeper who is currently without a club.

Career

Matteo Gianello learned to play football as a goalkeeper in the youth of AC Chievo Verona . In the 1994/95 season he was awarded to Sampdoria Genoa in Serie A , where he did not complete a single league game. He returned to Chievo the following season and played four Serie B games . In the 1996/97 season he was in 35 games in goal for the Veronese and conceded a total of 50 goals. Gianello was on the Chievo Verona squad for three more years and played 30 more games, conceding 44 goals. In 2000, the goalkeeper moved to AC Siena , where he completed the first season as a regular player and helped maintain the league in Serie B. In the following season he was also in most games, but received fewer appearances than in the previous year. For the entire season 2002/03 he was loaned to Hellas Verona . While Siena achieved promotion to Serie A for the first time in the club's history, Gianello returned disappointed to Siena after only one assignment at Hellas Verona. Since the AC Siena no longer considered him in the squad, he was in January 2004 for six months for ASD Lodigiani in the Series C awarded.

There the goalkeeper found his form and played 15 games with the team. In the summer of 2004 he transferred to SSC Napoli , which signed him from AC Siena. He got off to a difficult start in Napoli, but in his first season he made it to the team and made 17 appearances. After he had reached the play-off games with Naples, and only narrowly failed at the US Avellino , the southern Italians made promotion to Serie B in the 2005/06 season. Gianello has now played significantly fewer games, as Gennaro Iezzo was a new one Goalkeeper had moved to Naples, who had pushed him out of the gate. In the 2007/08 season, Matteo Gianello received significantly more stakes again because his competitor Iezzo was weakening. Since the 2009/10 season, Gianello is only the third goalkeeper at Napoli. The newcomer Morgan De Sanctis and Gennaro Iezzo prevent him from further assignments. In December 2012 he was banned for 3 years and 3 months due to his involvement in the Italian betting scandal of the 2011/12 season.
