Bovolone is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 16,142 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Verona in Veneto . The municipality is located about 22 kilometers southeast of Verona and 19 kilometers northwest of Legnago . The Menago flows through the municipality, which lies in the middle of the Veronese plain .
history
Pile dwellings have been proven in the area, so that settlement must have existed from early times. The localities were owned by the Bishop of Verona early on (813).
In the 1930s, a military airfield was built near Bovolone , which was also used by German Junkers Ju 87s during World War II . In 1959, an anti-aircraft missile position was built on the site , the remains of which are reminiscent of the airfield.

Strada Statale 434 runs through the municipality. There is a train station on the railway line between Cerea and Verona .
