Negrar is an Italian city ​​with 17,046 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Verona . It is located in the southwest of the Veneto region , near the border with Lombardy .

Location and dates

Negrar is 13 km north of the city of Verona . Its neighboring municipalities are Grezzana , Marano di Valpolicella , San Pietro in Cariano , Sant'Anna d'Alfaedo and Verona. In addition to the core town of Negrar, the town's districts include the villages of Arbizzano, Fane, Mazzano, Montecchio, Prun, Santa Maria and Torbe.

Mosaic from Negrar

In Negrar, mosaic floors of a Roman villa from the 3rd century were found. Gladiators are depicted with the details of their armor, as if the wealthy owner of the villa always wanted to see his heroes, whom he admired fighting in the arena in Verona.

In the Torbe district there is a church from the 17th century. The Villa Mosconi Bertani was built in the 18th century.
