history
The first traces of human civilization come from the Paleolithic , which is documented by finds on Monte San Michele (45,000 to 35,000 BC). The first documentary mention can be found in a Longobard document from 1130 as “Caput Leonis” (lion's head). In the Middle Ages and in modern times, Cavaion belonged to different rulers such as the Republic of Venice and Austria-Hungary . After the Peace of Vienna (1866) the area came to Italy.
