Vigasio is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 10,326 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Verona in Veneto . The municipality is located about 14 kilometers south of Verona .

history

The place name probably goes back to the Latin vicus attii and thus marked a settlement of the Attians, who were probably assigned to the Venetians . The place was first mentioned in 1014. As a changing station between Mantua and Verona, the place had acquired a certain importance early on.

At Vigasio, the A22 autostrada leads from Modena towards Brenner . The next connection is in Nogarole Rocca or in Verona. With the relocation of the Verona- Rovigo railway line , the Vigasio station was closed in 1986.
