San Giovanni Ilarione is a north-east Italian municipality ( comune ) with 5008 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Verona in Veneto . The municipality is located about 21.5 kilometers northeast of Verona on the Parco naturale regional della Lessinia . It is part of the Comunità montana della Lessinia and borders directly on the province of Vicenza .

history

As finds have shown, the Neanderthals were also native to this area on Monte Calvarina . The municipality, which was first mentioned in 1091, was part of the Republic of Venice from the 15th century .
