Bell Aliant Inc. is a Canadian telecommunications company. The company's headquarters are spread over several locations in the Atlantic provinces . The company employs around 9,100 people and supplies the eastern part of the country. Bell Canada has a 44% stake in the company and conducts the company's operations.

history

The company ended in 1999 from the merger of the four largest telecommunications companies Maritime Telephone and Telegraph Company (MT&T) , Island Telecom , New Brunswick Tel (NBTel) and NewTel Enterprises . From the four provinces of Nova Scotia , Prince Edward Island , New Brunswick and Newfoundland and Labrador .

Services

The company markets its products and services under the "Bell Aliant" brand in Atlantic Canada and under the "Bell" brand in eastern Ontario and Québec . In Atlantic Canada , the company operates high speed Internet and telephone networks, IPTV and cable television. Bell Aliant launched its fiber optic network in mid-2009 . In mid-2011, around 294,000 households and companies were connected to the new fiber optic network. Around 600,000 customers are to have access to the new fiber optic network by the end of 2012.
