Cologna Veneta is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 8514 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Verona in Veneto . The municipality is located about 34 kilometers southeast of Verona , about 30 kilometers southwest of Vicenza and about 40 kilometers west-southwest of Padua . Cologna Veneta borders directly on the province of Vicenza . The Guà flows through the municipality .

history

The area was originally settled by the Venetians and the Euganeans . Archaeological finds prove that there was already a settlement, possibly an army camp, in the time of Augustus. At the end of the Middle Ages, Cologna Veneta became part of the Republic of Venice .

traffic

The station on the former railway line from Treviso to Ostiglia has since been abandoned when the line was closed in 1987. The former Strada Statale 500 di Lonigo or del Colognese runs through the village .
