Francesco Sarego

Francesco Sarego SVD (born August 1, 1939 in Cologna Veneta , Province of Verona , Italy ) is an Italian religious and emeritus Roman Catholic Bishop of Goroka .

Life

Francesco Sarego joined the religious order of the Steyler Missionaries and was ordained a priest on August 20, 1986 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Goroka on December 6, 1995. The Archbishop of Mount Hagen , Michael Meier SVD, donated him the episcopal ordination on April 27, 1996; Co -consecrators were Archbishop Ramiro Moliner Inglés , Apostolic Nuncio in Papua New Guinea , and Wilhelm Kurtz SVD, Bishop of Kundiawa .

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on June 9, 2016.
