Wilhelm Kurtz (Bishop)
Wilhelm Joseph Kurtz SVD (English William Joseph Kurtz , born May 28, 1935 in Kempa , Opole district , Upper Silesia ) is retired Archbishop of Madang .
Life
Wilhelm Kurtz joined the religious order of the Steyler Missionaries and was ordained a priest on January 28, 1962 .
Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Kundiawa on June 8, 1982 . The episcopal ordination donated him the Bishop of Goroka , Raymond Rodly Caesar SVD, on September 8th of the same year; Co- consecrators were John Edward Cohill SVD, Bishop Emeritus of Goroka, and Francesco De Nittis , Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in Papua New Guinea .
On October 15, 1999, he was named Coadjutor Archbishop of Madang. After the resignation of Benedict To Varpins he followed this on 24 July 2001 in the office of the Archbishop of Madang.
Pope Benedict XVI On November 30, 2010, he accepted his resignation due to reasons of age.
