Casaleone is an Italian commune ( comune ) with 5572 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Verona in Veneto . The municipality is located about 34 kilometers southeast of Verona and borders directly on the province of Mantua .

history

Coin finds between 1888 and 1901 of Roman coins ( denarii and aces ) from the period between 206 BC and 51 BC make it clear that the area was already inhabited.

traffic

Casaleone station on the former Treviso - Ostiglia railway line was closed in 1967. The former Strada Statale 10 Padana Inferiore (now a regional road) runs through the municipality . The so-called Autostrada Padana Inferiore is planned , which will also be connected to Casaleone.
