Sevgein ( political municipality in the Gruob near Ilanz in the former Surselva district of the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland until December 31, 2013 . On January 1, 2014 Sevgein merged with the former municipalities of Castrisch , Duvin , Ilanz , Ladir , Luven , Pigniu , Pitasch , Riein , Rueun , Ruschein , Schnaus , Siat to form the new administrative unit of the city of Ilanz / Glion .

Blazon : "In blue a polished silver volute cross (anchor cross with rolled ends)."
The coat of arms is the modification of the motif of a Seewis coat of arms disc, by changing the shield color from red to blue. The combination of blue and silver stands for the free people of Laax with whom Sevgein was connected in the court of the free people above the Flimserwald.
Names
Sevgein is recorded in old documents as Sifis, Sivis, Syfis, Syffis.
The name comes from a basic form sequienos , the name of the Sequani belonging Celtic folk strain that from the province Maxima Sequanorum after Rätien was devious. The real meaning of the name is not known. The name Savognin is of the same origin.
geography
Sevgein is located in the Foppa district south-east of Ilanz on a slope terrace. The western boundary of the municipality was formed by the Glenner .
The municipality Sevgein the hamlets were in addition to the village Curschetta (870- 880 M. m above sea level. ,) Isla , the scattered settlement Darpinaus and several farmsteads. In the east, on the western slope of the Cauma ( 2240 m ) , the community reaches its highest point at 1540 m . Of the entire community area of 460 hectares, 237 hectares were covered by forest and wood. Another 182 hectares were used for agriculture. In contrast to many municipalities, only a small part of it is a mountain pasture. Of the rest of the community area, 24 hectares were settlement areas and 17 hectares were unproductive areas (mostly mountains).
