Vella ( [ˈvelɐ] ^?^/^I , German and officially Villa until 1987 ) was until December 31, 2012 a political municipality in Val Lumnezia , in the former Surselva district of the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland . Neighboring communities were Cumbel , Degen , Morissen , Obersaxen , Suraua and Surcuolm .

history

On January 1, 2013, it merged with the municipalities of Cumbel , Degen , Lumbrein , Morissen , Suraua , Vignogn and Vrin to form the new municipality of Lumnezia .

The pelican, which feeds its young with its blood, is the symbol of the sacrificial death of Christ in Christian iconography , but is also used for the church as a whole. Here it stands for the mother church of the Lugnez valley in Pleiv / Degen.
