Surcuolm ( , German and officially Neukirch bei Ilanz until 1943 ) was until December 31, 2008 a political municipality in the former Ilanz district , in the Surselva district of the Swiss canton of Graubünden .
On January 1, 2009, Surcuolm merged with Flond to form the political municipality of Mundaun . Since January 1, 2016, it has been part of the newly formed municipality of Obersaxen Mundaun .
Culture and history
The population of Surcuolm traditionally speaks Romansh . Unlike the neighboring settlements of Flond and Luven , however, it is Catholic.
In the middle of the 19th century, Yenish families were naturalized on the basis of the law to combat homelessness . Surcuolm has experienced a major boom in recent years, not least due to its connection to the Obersaxen ski area .
