Konrad Huber (Romanist)

Konrad Huber (born January 30, 1916 in Meilen ; † June 29, 1994 ibid) was a Swiss Romance philologist .

life and work

As a child, Huber spent eight years in Santa Fe (Argentina) . He attended high school in Zurich and studied Romance languages ​​there. In 1943 he did his doctorate under Jakob Jud with On the Hist and Storage Types of the Central Alpine Region. A factual and linguistic historical study (Zurich 1944). From 1943 to 1946 he and his wife ran the Swiss school in Lima . From 1950 to 1964 he was Associate Professor, from 1964 to 1981 Full Professor of Romance Philology (Italian and Rhaeto-Romanic linguistics) at the University of Zurich . Huber founded the “Centro di ricerca per la storia e l'onomastica ticinese” at the University of Zurich.
