Konrad Huber (Romanist)
Konrad Huber (born January 30, 1916 in Meilen ; † June 29, 1994 ibid) was a Swiss Romance philologist .
life and work
As a child, Huber spent eight years in Santa Fe (Argentina) . He attended high school in Zurich and studied Romance languages there. In 1943 he did his doctorate under Jakob Jud with On the Hist and Storage Types of the Central Alpine Region. A factual and linguistic historical study (Zurich 1944). From 1943 to 1946 he and his wife ran the Swiss school in Lima . From 1950 to 1964 he was Associate Professor, from 1964 to 1981 Full Professor of Romance Philology (Italian and Rhaeto-Romanic linguistics) at the University of Zurich . Huber founded the “Centro di ricerca per la storia e l'onomastica ticinese” at the University of Zurich.
