Career

In the club

Suazo began his football career with the Honduran club Club Deportivo Olimpia . With the club he won the championship once (1998) and the national cup once (1998).

In the summer of 1999 he moved to Italy to Cagliari Calcio . For the club, he scored a goal in eleven appearances in his first season. At the end of the season Cagliari rose from Serie B until they rose again for the 2003/04 season. In the four years in Serie B, Suazo scored 40 league goals in 113 league games. Because of his hit rate, he was nicknamed La Pantera (the panther) by fans .

For the 2007/08 season David Suazo moved to Inter Milan for 14 million euros . However, there was a conflict with city rivals AC Milan , who for their part had already reported the player's commitment as perfect - but ultimately Suazo decided to move to Inter. AC Milan accepted the decision, although they had already reached an agreement with Suazo's ex-club. In the 2007/08 season he won the Italian championship with Inter and was involved in his team's title win with eight goals in 24 games.

For the 2008/09 season Suazo was loaned to Benfica Lisbon . There he played twelve league games before returning to Inter Milan at the beginning of the 2009/10 season . However, Suazo could not prevail and only played one game in the first half of the season. Therefore, he was awarded to the league competitor CFC Genoa at the beginning of the second half of the season.

For the 2011/12 season Suazo moved to Catania Calcio . There he ended his active career on March 27, 2013 after a knee injury.

In the national team

With the youth selection of the Honduran national team , he took part in the 1999 World Junior Cup in Spain. There he lost all three group games with his team and was eliminated in the preliminary round. In 2010 Suazo also took part with the Honduran national team at the World Cup in South Africa and played three games.
