Vincent Philippe Antoine Candela (born October 24, 1973 in Bédarieux ) is a former French football player .

Career

Vincent Candela began his professional career in 1991 at Toulouse FC , where he played for four years before moving to EA Guingamp in 1995. There he was able to prevail as a regular player and completed 48 games in two years and scored two goals. In 1997 he moved to the top Italian club AS Roma . There spent a total of eight years of his career. Candela played 210 games there and scored 14 goals. He won the Serie A 2000/01 with AS Roma and also the Supercoppa Italiana 2001. In 2005 he played for half a year with the Bolton Wanderers . Then he went to Udinese Calcio in the same year , where he played for one season. In 2006 Candela moved to AC Siena , but he only stayed there for one season. In 2007 he was loaned to FC Messina for the second half of the season, where he played his last game against Fiorentina on May 20 .

National team

He played for the French national football team from 1996 to 2003 . For this he completed 40 games and scored two goals. His greatest successes were probably winning the 1998 soccer world championship and the 2000 European soccer championship . He also played at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta and also at the 2002 World Cup .
