Bédarieux is a southern French municipality with 5791 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Hérault department at the foot of the Cevennes . Bédarieux is located between the Mediterranean and the low mountain range in the center of the Occitania region , in the valley of the Orb River . The municipality is part of the Haut-Languedoc Regional Nature Park .
history
Bédarieux was a Huguenot community that was captured and burned by Charles de Choiseul, marquis de Praslin in 1622 in the course of the suppression of the Huguenot uprising in Languedoc .
