Creissan ( Occitan : Creissa ) is a French commune with 1,360 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Hérault department in the Occitanie region . It belongs to the arrondissement of Béziers and the canton of Saint-Pons-de-Thomières (until 2015: canton of Capestang ). The inhabitants are called Creissanais .

geography

Creissan is about 16 kilometers west-northwest of Béziers am Lirou . Creissan is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Cébazan in the north and northwest, Puisserguier in the east and Quarante in the south and west.

The community belongs to the Saint-Chinian wine region .
