Murviel-lès-Béziers ( Occitan: Murvièlh ) is a French commune with 3,075 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Hérault department in the Occitania region . It belongs to the arrondissement of Béziers and the canton of Cazouls-lès-Béziers .
geography
The municipality is located about 15 kilometers northwest of Béziers and 30 kilometers northeast of Narbonne in the landscape of the eastern Minervois . Neighboring municipalities to Murviel-lès-Béziers are:
- Cabrerolles in the north,
- Autignac in the northeast,
- Saint-Geniès-de-Fontedit in the east,
- Pailhès in the southeast
- Thézan-lès-Béziers in the south,
- Cazouls-lès-Béziers and Cessenon-sur-Orb in the southwest,
- Causses-et-Veyran to the west and
- Saint-Nazaire-de-Ladarez in the north-west.
In the north, the municipality extends to the Regional Nature Park Haut-Languedoc . The Orb River runs along the southeastern boundary of the municipality , and some tributaries, such as the Rieutort and the Taurou, cross the municipality.
