former Bassan Castle

Bassan ( Occitan : Bacan ) is a southern French commune in the department of Herault in the region Occitania . It has 2,112 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Béziers and the canton of Béziers-3 (until 2015: canton of Béziers-2 ). The inhabitants are called Bassanais .

geography

Bassan is a banlieue in the northeast of Béziers . The Libron limits the community to the west. Bassan is surrounded by the neighboring communities Espondeilhan in the north, Servian in the east, Boujan-sur-Libron in the south and south-east, Béziers in the south and south-west and Lieuran-lès-Béziers in the west.
