Pierrerue ( Occitan : Pèirarua ) is a French commune with 292 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Hérault department in the Occitania region (before 2016: Languedoc-Roussillon ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Béziers and the canton of Saint-Pons-de-Thomières (until 2015: canton of Saint-Chinian ). The inhabitants are called Pierrerunais .

geography

Pierrerue is about 21 kilometers west-northwest of Béziers in the southernmost foothills of the Massif Central . Pierrerue is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Prades-sur-Vernazobre in the north and northeast, Cazedarnes in the east and southeast, Cébazan in the south, Saint-Chinian in the west and Ferrières-Poussarou in the northwest.
