Maureilhan ( Occitan : Maurelhan ) is a French commune with 2,095 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Hérault department in the Occitania region . It belongs to the arrondissement of Béziers and the canton of Cazouls-lès-Béziers (until 2015: canton of Capestang ). The inhabitants are called Maureilhanais .

geography

Maureilhan is about seven kilometers west-northwest of Béziers . Maureilhan is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Cazouls-lès-Béziers in the north, Maraussan in the northeast, Béziers in the east, Montady in the south, Capestang in the west and southwest and Puisserguier in the west and northwest.

The former route nationale 112 (today's D612) runs through the municipality .
