Montagnac ( Occitan : Montanhac ) is a southern French municipality with 4,336 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Hérault department in the Occitania region . Montagnac belongs to the arrondissement of Béziers and the canton of Mèze . The inhabitants are called Montagnacois .
geography
Montagnac lies between the Cevennes and the Mediterranean . The Hérault river limits the municipality to the north-west. Montagnac is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Pons-de-Mauchiens in the north, Villeveyrac in the east, Mèze in the south and south-east, Pomérols and Pinet in the south, Castelnau-de-Guers , Aumes and Pézenas in the south-west, and Lézignan-la-Cèbe in the West and north-west and Cazouls-d'Hérault and Usclas-d'Hérault in the north-west.
The former route nationale 113 (today's D613) runs through the municipality .

The Saint-Martin chapel was mentioned as early as 847 and was rebuilt in the 12th century.
