The canton of Mèze is a French constituency in the Hérault department and in the arrondissements of Béziers , Lodève and Montpellier . It has 60,955 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017). Christophe Morgo ( DVG ) has been a representative in the General Council of the Department since 2001 .
economy
The most important industry is oyster farming in the Étang de Thau , which is particularly practiced in Mèze and Bouzigues . Viticulture and tourism are also important.

Until the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons in March 2015, the canton of Mèze included the seven communes of Bouzigues , Gigean , Loupian , Mèze , Montbazin , Poussan and Villeveyrac . Its layout corresponded to an area of 158.53 km 2 . Before 2015 he had the INSEE code 3420.
