The canton of Montpellier-2 is a French constituency in the arrondissement of Montpellier , in the Hérault department and in the Occitanie region . Pierre Maurel ( PS ) has been a representative in the General Council of the Département since 1993 .
The canton consists of part of the city of Montpellier with a total of 53,456 inhabitants (as of 2017):
Until the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons in March 2015, the three municipalities of Clapiers , Montferrier-sur-Lez and Montpellier belonged to the canton of Montpellier-2 . Before 2015 he had the INSEE code 3423.
