The canton of Pignan is a French constituency in the arrondissement of Montpellier , in the department of Hérault and in the region of Occitania . It has 42,441 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) on an area of 138.18 km².
Jean-Pierre Moure ( PS ) has been a representative in the General Council of the Department since 1998 . In the period 2015–2021, Anne Amiel ( LR ) and Jacques Martinier ( DVD ) represent the canton .

Until the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons in March 2015, the canton of Pignan included the seven municipalities of Cournonsec , Cournonterral , Fabrègues , Murviel-lès-Montpellier , Pignan , Saint-Georges-d'Orques and Saussan . Its layout corresponded to an area of 115.48 km 2 . Before 2015 he had the INSEE code 3449.
