Clapiers ( Occitan : Clapiés ) is a French commune with 5478 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Hérault department in the Occitanie region ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Montpellier and the canton of Montpellier - Castelnau-le-Lez . The inhabitants are called Clapierois .

geography

Clapiers is a banlieue in the north of Montpellier . The river Lez limits the municipality to the south. Clapiers is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Assas in the north, Teyran in the northeast, Jacou in the east, Castelnau-le-Lez in the southeast, Montpellier in the south and southwest, and Montferrier-sur-Lez in the west and Lavérune in the northwest.
