Candillargues ( Occitan : Candilhargues ) is a commune in the department of Herault in the region Occitan in southern France . It has 1,742 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017). It belongs to the arrondissement of Montpellier and the canton of Mauguio . The inhabitants are called Candillarguois .

geography

Candillargues is located about 15 kilometers east of Montpellier in the Petite Camargue . In the south is the Mediterranean lagoon Étang de l'Or . Candillargues is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Lansargues in the north and east, Mauguio in the south and east and Mudaison in the north-west.
