Hildegard Doebner

Hildegard "Hilde" Doebner (* April 8, 1928 ; † January 24, 2000 in Witten ) was a German folk music manager and organizer who, together with others, founded the local "Folk Club" in Witten and is known nationwide as the "Folk Mother" as a co-operator has been.

Life

Doebner's husband Rolf was killed in a mining accident in the 1960s. The children Rolf and Anke, married Pütz, emerged from the marriage.

Cultural work

The building at Steinstrasse 15, in which the “Folk Club” was located, has been a listed building since 1988 .

In 1974 she founded the folk club at Steinstrasse 15 in Witten together with Jörg and Simone Stoppel, Helmut and Lilo Dannert, Gisela Ocken, Sylvia Smart and Paul Wood.

There she organized concerts with young and established national and international artists, including Stefan Stoppok , Lydie Auvray , Le Clou , Bernies Autobahn Band , Ray Austin , Liederjan , The Fureys , Brenda Wootton , Julian Dawson , Mike Silver , Lydie Auvray, Fiedel Michel , Hans Keller , Hannes Wader , Hanns Dieter Hüsch , Jürgen von der Lippe and Herbert Grönemeyer (then around 17 years old). The stage for open-air events stood in front of the Berger memorial . Camping tents from an estimated 1,500 fans from several countries stood on a neighboring meadow. The THW relocated water taps for the event. She was friends with many of the performing artists. Doebner was also on the jury of the critics hit parade song list .

In the mid-1990s, Doebner fell ill and the events in the restaurant gradually came to a standstill. After her death there was no longer any noteworthy folk scene in the city.

Political commitment

Doebner was politically active, was a member of the SPD and later a councilor for Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen . As such, she resigned from the city council faction in 1997 due to internal differences together with Helmut Dannert, Gabriela Didic and Malte Schmidt and founded her own “Green Alternative” faction.

Since her death, the association Witten Folk eV, founded in 2005, the Air Open Festival sees himself in the tradition of the legendary Witten folk club and its organized posthumously regularly Witten Folk Festival, for example, in 2008 in youth and cultural ° Werkstadt a Festival on the occasion of Hildegard Doebner's 80th birthday. The hall of the Witten youth u. Kulturzentrums Werk ° Stadt was named after her.
